Basiar

The Basiar ring by Orah Jewels is part of the Makli collection, inspired by the decorative stonework of Makli Necropolis in Sindh - one of the largest funerary sites in the world, with an estimated half-million tombs spanning the 14th to 18th centuries. The ring is handcrafted in brass and set with blue topaz from Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, the geometric pattern of the setting drawn from Makli's carved sandstone panels.

Topaz from Skardu forms in granitic pegmatites under the Karakoram at high altitude - its blue produced by natural processes within the crystal lattice. Makli's architectural tradition used geometry as both decoration and structural language - the same principle applied in the ring's setting, where pattern carries as much weight as the stone.
