From the Alif Laila collection by Orah Jewels - each earring carries a single Urdu letter worked in brass and inlaid with Mother of Pearl, the geometric patterns drawn from the carved stonework of Lahore Fort. The name Alif Laila references One Thousand and One Nights: the Urdu alphabet given the quality of narrative, each letter a character with its own weight and form.
Mother of Pearl for the Alif Laila series is sourced from Pakistan's Makran Coast, Gwadar, where the nacre carries a warmer iridescence than imported shell. Each earring is finished by hand at Orah's Lahore workshop, the letter and stone fitted individually.
