From the Alif Laila collection by Orah Jewels - each pendant carries a single Urdu letter worked in brass and inlaid with Mother of Pearl, the geometric frame drawn from the carved stone detail of Lahore Fort. The collection treats the Urdu huroof as characters worthy of adornment - each letter a story compressed into a single form.
Mother of Pearl is sourced from Pakistan's Makran Coast, Gwadar - the nacre of the Arabian Sea, with a cream-toned warmth distinct from East Asian shell. Each pendant is finished individually at Orah's Lahore workshop, the letter centered and the stone fitted by hand.
