The nacre comes from Pakistan's own coastline, carrying the natural iridescence of the Arabian Sea in every piece.
Mother of Pearl from Gwadar is prized for its warm, cream-toned sheen - distinct from the cooler white of East Asian shell. It has been used in inlay work across the subcontinent for centuries, and at Orah, it is cut by hand in Lahore to fit each letter form precisely.
