Khamoshi - Aventurine Brass Earrings

From the Ankahee collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Khamoshi takes its name from the Urdu word for silence and celebrates the depth and meaning that can exist within it. Each earring is an open brass hoop, a fine wire on one side widening into a crescent band cut with swirls and leaf shaped openings, and ending in a round aventurine cabochon set in a bezel.

The stone is natural aventurine from Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is a quartz rock whose green comes from fuchsite, a chromium bearing mica, and the tiny mica flakes trapped inside give aventurine its soft glitter, known as aventurescence. The name traces back to the Italian a ventura, meaning by chance. On a small cabochon like this, the color reads as a calm, even green with a faint shimmer.

The band is widest at the curve and narrows into the wire, so the pair looks light and moves easily. The open design slips through the ear with no clasp to fasten. At 1.7 Inches, they suit daily wear.
