Uraan - Lapis Lazuli Brass Ring

From the Ankahee collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Uraan takes its name from the Urdu word for flight and carries the thoughts and memories that lift us beyond the present moment. A freeform slab of lapis lazuli sits in a bold oval brass frame with a textured, sand like surface, and three small brass beads on either side of the stone.

The stone is natural lapis lazuli from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, where lapis forms as veins in marble and the Kokcha Valley deposits have been mined for over six thousand years. Its blue comes from lazurite, and the gold flecks across this slab are pyrite, part of what marks the stone as natural. It is cut flat, so the blue and the pyrite show across one open surface.

The band is open and adjustable, so one ring fits a range of finger sizes. The frame is broad and sits low, which lets the stone show its full face.

Made at Orah Jewels and Crafts in Lahore, with lapis sourced directly from Badakhshan over twelve years and brasswork finished by hand. One piece.
