Ulfat - Fluorite Brass Ring

From the Ankahee collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Ulfat takes its name from the Urdu word for affection and reflects a feeling that is quietly felt, steady and unspoken. A round, flat cut disc of fluorite sits in a twisted rope bezel, with a cluster of three small brass beads above and below it.

The stone is natural fluorite from Balochistan, Pakistan. Fluorite is calcium fluoride, and it grows in color zones as mineral rich fluids move through rock, which is why this single disc shifts from blue through teal to violet. The name comes from the Latin fluere, to flow, because fluorite was long used as a flux in smelting metal. At 4 on the Mohs scale it is softer than most gemstones, so this ring is best kept away from hard knocks.

The band is open and adjustable, so one ring fits a range of finger sizes. The rope bezel and the matching bead clusters at top and bottom give the round stone a formal, symmetrical frame.

Made at Orah Jewels and Crafts in Lahore, with fluorite sourced directly from Balochistan over twelve years and brasswork finished by hand. One piece.
