Midnight Petal - Silver Lapis Lazuli Bracelet

Midnight Petal is a sterling silver bracelet built around a single stone: natural Lapis Lazuli, set in the round and paired with faceted zircon. The name follows the stone's character rather than a collection theme — Lapis reads as deep, almost petal-dark blue under most light, which is the effect the piece is named for.

Lapis Lazuli used in Midnight Petal is sourced from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, the world's oldest known continuous source of the stone, mined there for over 6,000 years. Its blue comes from lazurite, a sulfur-bearing silicate mineral that forms in contact metamorphic zones within marble. The gold flecks visible in higher-grade stone are pyrite inclusions, and faint white veining, where present, is calcite from the same host rock. Lapis has no cleavage plane and is cut and polished as a solid mass rather than faceted, which is why the stone in this bracelet is set smooth and rounded rather than gem-cut. Zircon, the accent stone, is a naturally occurring zirconium silicate with one of the highest refractive indices of any natural gem, which is why it carries more fire and brilliance than glass or cubic zirconia despite being a distinct, naturally mined mineral. Set alongside Lapis, it lifts the matte depth of the blue with points of sharp light.

The bracelet is built on an adjustable band, sitting close to the wrist rather than loose, and sized to work across most wrist measurements without a clasp. The silver setting is left unembellished around the stone so the Lapis carries the piece rather than competing with metalwork.

Made at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility in Lahore, Midnight Petal is hand-finished after setting. The Lapis Lazuli used here moves through Orah's own sourcing network rather than a resale chain, part of more than twelve years of direct gemstone trade across Pakistan and into Afghanistan's Badakhshan region.
