Roshanai - Natural Emeralds Earrings

The Roshanai earrings by Orah Jewels are handcrafted in sterling silver and set with raw emeralds from Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, kept in their natural, uncut form. The word roshanai means illumination in Urdu - raw Swat emerald earns the name at close range: a depth of green that polished stones can lose in the cutting.

Swat emeralds form in biotite schist at high elevation, their color produced by chromium and vanadium concentrated in this specific geological context. Swat is a recognized emerald origin, and Orah sources directly from the valley rather than through the Peshawar trading market.
