Dareechay - Natural Amethyst Earrings

Rs.4,500

The Dareechay earrings by Orah Jewels take their design from the jali lattice screens of the Sheesh Mahal in Lahore Fort, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1632. Jali - the carved geometric latticework found throughout Mughal architecture - was designed to filter light, provide ventilation, and create privacy without solid walls. The earring translates this architectural principle into the scale of jewelry: a geometric open-work frame set with natural amethyst.

Amethyst is purple quartz, its color produced by iron impurities within the crystal lattice. The depth of color shifts between violet and deep purple depending on the angle of light - a quality that works well within the open-work jali geometry, where light passes through both the stone and the frame simultaneously.

Handcrafted at Orah Jewels and Crafts, Lahore. One pair at a time.
