Gul-e-Sham- Mother of Pearl Pendant

The Gul-e-Sham pendant by Orah Jewels is handcrafted in brass and set with Mother of Pearl sourced from the Makran Coast, Gwadar, the geometric frame drawn from the intricate stonework of the Sheesh Mahal in Lahore Fort. The name Gul-e-Sham means Flower of the Sunset in Urdu - the warm iridescence of the nacre shifts with the angle of light in a way that earns the name at dusk.

Mother of Pearl is the nacre layer of the oyster shell - its iridescence produced by alternating layers of aragonite platelets that interfere with light at the nanoscale. Pearl from the Makran Coast carries a warmer, cream-toned luminescence than imported shell. The Sheesh Mahal geometric frame gives structure to the stone's organic surface.
