Hifazat - Red Jasper and Milky Quartz Wall Frame

A wall frame by Orah Jewels and Crafts carrying the opening verse of Surah An-Nas, the final surah of the Quran and one of the two surahs of seeking refuge:

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

"Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind." (Surah An-Nas, 114:1)

The calligraphy is rendered in gold-toned brass and mounted against a deep blue velvet ground within a substantial outer frame. Set within the metalwork are two stones: natural red jasper from Balochistan and natural milky quartz from Chilas, Gilgit-Baltistan. Red jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz, fully opaque, its red color produced by iron oxide distributed uniformly through the stone matrix. Milky quartz is silicon dioxide formed with microscopic fluid inclusions trapped during crystallization, producing a soft, steady white opacity rather than the transparency of clear quartz. The two stones sit together within the brass calligraphy: the warm red of the jasper and the cool white of the quartz flanking the script, the contrast between them deliberate and material rather than merely decorative. Against the deep blue velvet ground, all three elements — brass, red jasper, milky quartz — read with full clarity.

The outer frame is a wide gold-toned molding with a layered architectural profile. The blue velvet behind the calligraphy absorbs light and gives the composition depth, so the metalwork and stones present without interference from reflective surfaces. The piece measures 16 x 16 inches, suited to an entrance hall, a bedroom, a prayer room, or any wall where a verse of protection belongs.
