The Noor-e-Jahan ring by Orah Jewels is handcrafted in brass and set with Mother of Pearl sourced from the Makran Coast, Gwadar, the geometric setting pattern drawn from the mirror mosaic work of the Sheesh Mahal in Lahore Fort. The name Noor-e-Jahan means Light of the World in Urdu - the nacre of the stone gives the ring a soft, light-diffusing quality consistent with that name.
Mother of Pearl is the nacre layer of the oyster shell - its iridescence produced by alternating layers of aragonite platelets and organic protein that interfere with light at the nanoscale. Pearl from the Makran Coast carries a warmer, cream-toned luminescence than imported East Asian shell material.
