Noor-e-Rahmat - Natural Red Jasper Wall Frame
A wall frame by Orah Jewels and Crafts carrying two texts together: the Bismillah, which opens every surah of the Quran, and the first verse of Surah Al-Alaq, the first revelation.
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."
The calligraphy is rendered in gold-toned brass and mounted against a deep emerald green velvet ground within a substantial outer frame. Set within the metalwork are stones of natural red jasper, sourced from Balochistan, Pakistan's western highland province. Jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz, its red color produced by iron oxide distributed uniformly through the stone matrix. It is fully opaque and dense, taking a smooth surface that presents its earthy crimson without variation or inclusions. Red jasper has been used in Islamic and South Asian decorative traditions for centuries, its warm, grounded color a natural complement to the gold tone of brass calligraphy. In this frame, the jasper stones sit within the metalwork as fixed points of warm red against the dark green velvet field, the combination of red, gold, and deep green drawing from a color palette used across Mughal and Ottoman ornamental art.
The outer frame is a wide gold-toned molding with an architectural layered profile. The emerald green velvet behind the calligraphy absorbs light rather than reflecting it, giving the composition depth and ensuring the brass script and jasper stones read with full clarity. The piece measures 16 x 16 inches, suited to an entrance hall, a sitting room, a study, or a dedicated prayer corner. Made at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility in Lahore, where brass calligraphy, gemstone setting, and frame construction are carried out under one roof. One piece.
