Noor — Light, Radiance

The word is engraved in stainless steel calligraphy and set into a tile of natural amazonite, sourced from Gilgit-Baltistan. Amazonite is a variety of potassium feldspar, its characteristic blue-green color produced by trace amounts of lead and water within the crystal lattice. The stone forms in granite pegmatites and presents a matte, waxy surface that carries its color evenly and quietly. White calcite streaking runs through the matrix in varying densities, so no two tiles are identical in surface pattern. The cool tone of the amazonite and the word noor on its face make this a piece about light in both material and meaning.

The tile is 4 x 4 inches, weighted and stable on a flat surface without a stand. Suited to a desk, bedside table, entry console, or prayer corner. Made at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility in Lahore. One piece.
