Sada-e-Jahan - Turquoise Silver Earrings

Rs.46,500

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Sada-e-Jahan is a pair of silver earrings set entirely in turquoise, its name meaning the echo of the world, taken from the way sound travels through the domes and arches of the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.

Turquoise is soft and porous compared to most gemstones used in fine jewelry, which is part of what allows it to take on such a saturated, uniform blue rather than the harder, more crystalline structure of stones like topaz or tourmaline. The turquoise in Sada-e-Jahan comes from Iran's Neyshabur mines, in Khorasan province, and being porous, it will absorb oils from the skin over years of wear, gradually shifting a shade or two deeper than the color it arrived in.

At 1.5 inches, Sada-e-Jahan carries the turquoise in a simple, considered form built for everyday wear. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One pair.
