The Sahar bookmark by Orah Jewels is handcrafted in brass with Islamic calligraphy and geometric patterns, inlaid with natural red jasper sourced from Balochistan. The word sahar means dawn in Urdu - carried in the terracotta warmth of a stone that reads differently in morning light than in the evening.
Red jasper from Balochistan carries a density and warmth that synthetic alternatives cannot produce. The hematite inclusions that give the stone its red are the same minerals that color much of Balochistan's highland landscape. The bookmark is weighted and finished at Orah's Lahore workshop to sit flat within the page.
