Aasmaan - Natural Amazonite Necklace
From the Rangreza collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, a necklace that takes its name and color from the open sky above Lahore on Basant morning. Aasmaan places polished Amazonite from Gilgit-Baltistan along a 16-inch brass chain, the stones distributed evenly so the blue-green reads continuously across the collarbone, the natural marbling of each stone giving the necklace a surface texture that changes as you move closer to it.
Amazonite from Gilgit-Baltistan is a potassium feldspar colored by lead and water within the crystal structure, the resulting blue-green uniquely distinguished by white feldspar veining that runs through each stone in its own pattern. No two stones carry the same marbling, which means the necklace has an internal rhythm of variation rather than a uniform repetition of identical pieces. The color sits in a serene, airy register, neither as deep as lapis nor as bright as turquoise, occupying the pale blue-green that reads as sky-like in a literal sense. Polishing the stone to a smooth surface presents this color and its marbling directly, without the diffusion of a matte finish or the light-break of a faceted cut. Gilgit-Baltistan amazonite has a consistency of color quality that distinguishes it from material sourced through less direct supply chains, and each stone in this necklace was selected through Orah Jewels and Crafts' direct sourcing network.
The brass chain is warm in tone, its gold undertone complementing the cool blue-green of the amazonite with a contrast that keeps the necklace visually active without introducing a competing design element. At 16 inches, the necklace falls at the collarbone where the stones lay flat and the full marbling pattern of each piece is visible from the front.
