Gulrukh - Ruby and Aquamarine Silver Necklace
From the Sunheri Shaam collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, the most layered piece in the series. Gulrukh brings together faceted ruby from Afghanistan and uncut aquamarine from Skardu Valley, a pairing of fire and water that reflects the full spectrum of the sky at dusk: the deep warmth burning at the horizon, the cool translucence spreading above it.
The Afghan ruby carries the color depth that has made rubies from this region the most sought-after in the world for centuries. Orah's sourcing traces directly back to the gemstone networks of northern Afghanistan, the same ancient trade routes that once supplied the Mughal courts of Lahore and Agra. The ruby here is faceted to release its color: a deep, saturated red that in certain light seems to glow from within.
Against it sits uncut aquamarine from Skardu Valley, one of Pakistan's most celebrated gemstone regions, nestled at the confluence of the Karakoram and Himalayas. Raw aquamarine from this region has a distinctive ice blue translucence, a quality the local lapidaries describe as "sky held in stone." Uncut and unpolished, it presents its natural surface to the eye: cool, dimensional, and honest about what it is.
The combination of these two stones in a single piece is a deliberate act of contrast, warmth and coolness, fire and water, depth and translucence. The sterling silver setting mediates between them, providing a neutral ground that lets each stone speak clearly. At Rs 62,000, Gulrukh is the statement piece of the Sunheri Shaam collection.
