Chaar Baagh - Turquoise Silver Ring
From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Chaar Baagh is a silver ring finished with gold plating and set with multiple pieces of turquoise, its name taken from the four part Mughal garden layout that also shaped the entry courtyard of the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.
Each piece of turquoise in Chaar Baagh is sourced from Iran, from the Neyshabur mines in Khorasan province, the source that has supplied the world's finest turquoise for over two thousand years, its blue color produced by copper bound into the stone's structure. Setting several stones together rather than one lets the ring show the natural variation between individual pieces of turquoise, no two reading exactly the same shade of blue.
At US size 7.5, the gold plating in Chaar Baagh frames the cluster of turquoise the way a garden frames its beds, each stone given its own small space within the larger form. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
