Nigar - Turquoise and White Topaz Silver Ring

Rs.32,500

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Nigar is a silver ring set with turquoise and white topaz, its name meaning painting or portrait, drawn from the ornate detail carried across the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.

The turquoise in Nigar is sourced from Iran, from the Neyshabur mines in Khorasan province, its sky blue produced by copper bound into the stone's structure, a source that has supplied the world's most prized turquoise for over two thousand years.

Set beside the turquoise is white topaz, an aluminum silicate crystal that grows inside granite pegmatites, the slow cooling mineral pockets that give it room to form large and clear. Topaz ranks eight on the Mohs hardness scale, harder than almost anything else likely to share a jewelry box with it, which is part of why the white variety has stayed a popular choice for detailed, faceted cuts. The white topaz in Nigar is sourced from the Skardu Valley in Gilgit Baltistan, a region whose pegmatite fields have produced some of Pakistan's clearest topaz for decades.

At US size 8, Nigar sets the two stones together, letting the deep blue of the turquoise and the sparkle of the topaz read as one detailed surface. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
