Noor-e-Sindh - Turquoise and White Topaz Silver Necklace

Rs.58,500

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Noor-e-Sindh is a silver pendant set with turquoise and white topaz, drawing its name and its color story from Sindh's own artistic heritage and the tile work of the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.

The turquoise in Noor-e-Sindh is sourced from Iran, from the Neyshabur mines in Khorasan province that have supplied the world's most prized turquoise for over two thousand years, its sky blue color produced by copper bound into the stone's structure while trace iron gives some stones a faint green cast. Turquoise is porous and responds to the oils of the skin over years of wear, so the stone in Noor-e-Sindh will deepen gradually in tone the longer it is worn.

Alongside the turquoise sits white topaz, an aluminum silicate formed inside granite pegmatites, the slow cooling pockets of mineral rich melt that allow a crystal to grow clear and well formed. The white topaz in Noor-e-Sindh is sourced from the Skardu Valley in Gilgit Baltistan, a region whose pegmatite fields have produced some of Pakistan's clearest topaz for decades, historically prized as one of the more convincing substitutes for diamond.

At 9.3 inches, Noor-e-Sindh pairs the deep blue of the turquoise with the sparkle of the topaz in a pendant sized to sit close to the collarbone. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
