Diwan - Natural Peridot Silver Ring
From the Rani collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, a ring with a single point of focus. Diwan presents one Peridot cabochon set in a plain silver bezel, the stone cut smooth and domed so the surface captures light without faceting, with no distraction in the setting and no secondary stones.
Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only one color, an olive to yellow-green produced by iron present within the mineral olivine's crystal structure. Unlike most stones where trace impurities create color, in peridot iron is a fundamental part of the chemistry, not a contaminant. The deeper the iron content, the more saturated and distinctly green the stone becomes. This stone comes from Northern Pakistan highlands, one of the oldest and most mineralogically active peridot-producing regions in Asia, where the stone forms in ultramafic igneous rock at depths that preserve the crystal clarity you cannot reliably replicate in other source regions. A cabochon cut, with its smooth rounded dome, was chosen specifically for this stone because it reveals the stone's internal glow rather than the prismatic light-break you get from faceting. This is peridot as volume and color, not as brilliance.
The silver band is plain and slightly tapered toward the back, the bezel low and form-fitting around the stone so the ring sits flat against the finger. At US size 6, it fits a smaller finger without any bulk, the stone centered and unobstructed from all angles. The green reads clearly outdoors and shifts toward olive in warm indoor light.
