Gul Noor - Turquoise Silver Bracelet

Rs.36,500

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Gul Noor is an adjustable silver cuff set entirely in turquoise, carrying the sky blue that covers the domes of the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta, completed in 1647 and still holding the most elaborate glazed tile work in the subcontinent.

Turquoise is a hydrated phosphate of copper and aluminum, its sky blue color produced by copper held within the stone's structure while trace iron gives some stones a faint green cast at the edges. The turquoise in Gul Noor is sourced from Iran, from the Neyshapur mines in Khorasan province, the source that has supplied the world's finest turquoise for over two thousand years and reached Sindh through the same Persian trade routes that carried the Kashani tile craft used at Shah Jahan Mosque. Turquoise is porous and responds to the oils of the skin with wear, so the stone in Gul Noor will deepen gradually in tone the longer it stays on the wrist.

The cuff in Gul Noor is open and adjustable, sized at 2.4 inches and finished narrow enough to wear alone or stacked without adding bulk to the wrist. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
