Zeenat - Peridot Silver Ring

From the Satrangi collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Zeenat is a signet style ring set with a raw crystal of natural peridot in sterling silver with a 24k gold plated band. The stone is left in its natural prismatic form rather than cut into a smooth cabochon, so the crystal edges and internal structure remain visible within the setting. The word zeenat means adornment or ornamentation in Urdu, and the ring earns that name through restraint: one stone, one form, the material doing the work.

Natural peridot is a gem variety of the mineral olivine, a magnesium iron silicate that forms in the upper mantle of the earth and reaches the surface through volcanic activity. Its green color is intrinsic to the mineral chemistry: unlike most gemstones where trace impurities create color, in peridot the iron within the olivine crystal structure itself is responsible for the yellow green saturation. The tone cannot be altered by heat treatment, which means every peridot appears exactly as the earth produced it. Pakistan's northern highlands, particularly the highland regions of KPK, yield some of the finest peridot specimens in the world, with larger crystals and stronger color saturation than deposits found elsewhere. In Zeenat, the raw crystal form amplifies this natural character: the stone presents with visible growth geometry and internal light refraction rather than the polished uniformity of a cut gem.

The ring body is cast in sterling silver and finished with a 24k gold plate that warms the setting around the cool green of the stone. The signet profile keeps the face flat and wide, a format historically associated with authority and mark making. At US size 6.5, the face presents at a proportion suited to everyday wear without overpowering the hand. The raw stone height adds dimension above the band, so the ring reads differently in profile than face on.
