Zarnoor - Aventurine and Topaz Silver Earrings

From the Sunheri Shaam collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Zarnoor is a pair of silver earrings set with pear drop aventurine from Swat Valley and natural topaz from Skardu Valley, the soft green of the aventurine paired with the clear brilliance of the topaz in a compact, everyday form.

Aventurine is a variety of quartz that owes its shimmer to tiny platelets of fuchsite mica trapped inside the stone as it formed, an optical effect called aventurescence that scatters light back through the surface rather than letting it pass straight through. The aventurine in Zarnoor is sourced from Swat Valley in KPK, a region better known internationally for its emerald but which also produces some of Pakistan's finest quartz varieties, cut here into a pear drop shape that lets the green catch light along its full length.

Set beside it is natural topaz from Skardu Valley in Gilgit Baltistan, an aluminum silicate that forms in the region's high altitude granite pegmatites, cooling slowly enough over geological time to grow into large, clean crystals. Topaz ranks eight on the Mohs hardness scale, tougher than quartz, which means the clear brilliance beside the softer sheen of the aventurine holds up to daily wear without losing its edge.

At 0.9 inches, Zarnoor is sized for daily wear rather than occasion only, the aventurine and topaz pairing bringing texture as much as color to the ear. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One pair.
