Riwaaz-e-Neel - Lapis Lazuli Necklace

Riwaaz-e-Neel is a statement necklace by Orah Jewels and Crafts, crafted in gold plated silver and strung with richly colored lapis lazuli pieces in varied organic forms. A detailed central motif adds a heritage inspired accent, while the bold arrangement of natural stones gives the necklace a contemporary character.

The lapis lazuli in Riwaaz-e-Neel is sourced from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, where the same deposits have supplied the stone for over six thousand years. Its color comes from lazurite, a mineral that forms within the surrounding rock under specific metamorphic conditions, and the varied, irregular shapes of the stones here are chosen deliberately rather than cut to a uniform size.

The irregular, organic cut of each lapis piece keeps the necklace from reading as machine made, with the gold plated silver settings holding each stone individually along the strand. The central motif anchors the design without overwhelming the natural variation of the stones around it.
