Noor Ara - Turquoise Silver Ring

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Noor Ara is a silver ring set with turquoise in an abstract form, its name meaning bearer of light, taken from the way light plays across the tile work at the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.

The turquoise in Noor Ara is sourced from Iran, from the Neyshabur mines in Khorasan province, a source that has supplied the world's most prized turquoise for over two thousand years, its color produced by copper held within the stone's structure. Persian turquoise reached Sindh through the same trade and craft networks that brought the tile makers who built the mosque this piece is drawn from.

At US size 6, the abstract silver form in Noor Ara sits low across the finger, framing the turquoise without boxing it in, so the stone continues to read as the primary shape rather than a set piece. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
