Shah Mehrab - Turquoise Silver Bracelet

Rs.62,500

From the Jahan collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Shah Mehrab is an adjustable silver bangle set with turquoise, its name and its curved form drawn from the mihrab arches of the Shah Jahan Mosque in Thatta.

Persia has mined turquoise from the same high altitude deposits near Neyshabur, in Khorasan province, Iran, for more than two thousand years, longer than almost any other gemstone source still active today. The turquoise set into Shah Mehrab comes from this deposit, its color owed to copper trapped inside the stone as it formed, and its route into Sindh follows the same overland trade paths that once carried Persian craftsmen and their materials toward the Mughal courts.

At 58 mm, the curved band in Shah Mehrab echoes the arched form it takes its name from, sized to sit close to the wrist and worn alone or layered with other pieces. Made in Lahore at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility. One piece.
