Zarrin - Ruby and White Topaz Silver Ring
From the Sunheri Shaam collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Zarrin means golden in Persian and Urdu, a name that speaks to the warmth of the ring's pairing: a pear shaped natural ruby with white topaz accents, set in a simple silver band.
Afghan ruby, sourced from the Badakhshan region, carries a color depth that has made it sought after for centuries, the red produced by trace chromium locked into the corundum as it formed. The white topaz set beside it is chosen for brilliance rather than size, small faceted stones cut to scatter light sharply enough to read as sparks against the steadier red of the ruby. Unlike colored topaz, the white variety carries no trace elements to tint it, relying entirely on the precision of its facets for brilliance.
Zarrin is built with more presence than a typical solitaire, the band carrying enough weight to feel substantial on the hand without tipping into ornamentation. The pear cut ruby sits as the clear anchor, the topaz a supporting note rather than a second subject.
