Andaroon Drops - Natural Lapis Lazuli Earrings
From the Rangreza collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, earrings that take the depth of the Basant sky and put it on the ear. Andaroon Drops hold polished Lapis Lazuli from Badakhshan, Afghanistan on sleek geometric brass links, the stone dropping clean and vertical from each link so the blue hangs still against the neck with every movement.
Lapis Lazuli from Badakhshan is the world's oldest continuously traded gemstone, mined at the same Sar-e-Sang deposits that supplied the ancient world for over 6,000 years. The deep ultramarine blue is produced by lazurite, a sulfur-bearing mineral within the sodalite group, set within a calcium carbonate matrix that carries natural white calcite veining and fine gold pyrite flecks. The polished surface of each drop in Andaroon Drops presents the stone's color at full intensity, the blue dense and even, the pyrite inclusions reading as fine mineral detail within the face of the stone. No two drops are identical in how the calcite and pyrite are distributed, which gives the pair a matched but not uniform character.
The geometric brass links above the stone are cool-toned, their clean angular form providing a structured transition between the ear and the stone's drop. The linear construction creates a graceful vertical movement, the stone reading at its full face from the front. At 2.25 inches, the earrings are long enough to register clearly without competing with necklines or collars. They work equally well with formal and casual dressing.
