Dastan - Natural Emerald Silver Necklace

Rs.105,000

From the Rani collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, a necklace built from a stone that grows in one of the world's most botanically and geologically productive valleys. Dastan is set with multiple uncut Emerald stones from Swat Valley, KPK, each piece of rough held in its own silver bezel along a 16-inch chain, the green distributed across the collarbone from one side to the other.

Emerald from Swat Valley forms in the talc-carbonate schist belt of the region, where the collision of the Eurasian and Indian plates created the metamorphic environment in which beryl crystallizes with chromium and vanadium at concentrations sufficient to produce true emerald color. Swat's emeralds are characterized by a warm, saturated green with a slight yellow undertone that is distinct from the cooler green of Zambian material and the more evenly saturated green of Colombian stones. The chromium and vanadium together in Swat material produce a color that shifts between saturated green and a deeper, almost forested tone depending on the light source, which means the necklace reads differently outdoors versus indoors. Uncut stones in Dastan retain the natural surface of the beryl crystal, including the slight surface irregularity and the inclusions that a lapidary would polish out or cut around, these are the features that establish the stone as genuinely natural and genuinely from this origin. The stones were sourced directly from Swat Valley and set individually at the Orah Jewels facility in Lahore.

The 16-inch length sits at the collarbone, the bezels distributed evenly so the emeralds lie flat as the necklace settles on the body. The chain is fine silver, the stones doing the visual weight without the metalwork contributing to the mass.
