Laila - Natural Emerald Silver Ring
From the Rani collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, a ring where the setting form carries as much intention as the stone. Laila places a single Emerald from Swat Valley inside a floral silver frame, the petals cast and shaped around the stone so the green at the center reads as something growing from the metal rather than placed on top of it.
Emerald from Swat Valley, KPK forms in the talc-carbonate schist belt that runs through the region, one of the rare geological environments on earth where beryl crystallizes with the chromium concentrations needed to produce true emerald color. Swat emerald's green is warm and saturated, leaning toward the forest end of the spectrum rather than the blue-green of Zambian material or the cool brightness of some Brazilian stones. This stone has been left uncut to preserve the natural surface character. The fractures and growth planes visible within it are not flaws but evidence of the formation conditions under which it grew, millions of years of heat and pressure recorded in the crystal. The stone was inspected and selected at Orah Jewels and Crafts in Lahore.
The floral setting is cast in silver, the petal forms slightly irregular in a way that reads as handmade rather than machined. The stone sits low within the flower, the ring profile compact and close to the finger. At US size 6.25, the piece sits centered on a smaller hand without overreach. The overall width is moderate, the design delicate without being fragile.
