Aabshaar - Fluorite Brass Earrings
From the Gulzar collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Aabshaar is a pair of Fluorite brass earrings that carry the tone of flowing water in their form. The name translates to "waterfall" in Urdu, and the stone earns it. Each drop is compact and clean, letting the natural color variation of the fluorite carry the design without ornament. At 1.3 inches, this is an everyday drop.
Fluorite in this collection is sourced from Baluchistan, one of Pakistan's most mineral-rich geological zones. The stone belongs to the halide mineral group and crystallizes in a cubic system, giving it a glass-clear quality and internal depth that distinguishes it from most opaque gemstones. Color in fluorite is produced by trace impurities of rare earth elements, including yttrium and cerium, embedded within the calcium fluoride lattice at different concentrations. These impurities sit at varied points in the crystal, which is why a single fluorite specimen can shift from soft lavender to sea green to pale amber across its surface. Baluchistan produces fluorite in the pastel to mid tone range that characterizes the pieces in this collection: cooler tones with an internal luminosity that reads best in natural light. Fluorite also carries a structural distinction. It was the stone that gave science the word "fluorescence," a property many specimens demonstrate under ultraviolet light, produced by the same rare earth trace elements responsible for its color.
At 1.3 inches, Aabshaar falls into the compact drop category, present without being heavy, clear without competing with what surrounds it. The brass setting is finished with an aged warmth that holds contrast against the cooler fluorite tones without pulling the piece toward the decorative. This is a pairing built for everyday wear, for wearing alongside a bolder stone or as the single point of color in a simpler look. The earring hangs from a standard hook fitting.
Made at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility in Lahore, Aabshaar is assembled by hand by Orah's artisans. Orah has maintained direct sourcing relationships across Pakistan's mineral belt, including Baluchistan, for over twelve years. One pair.
