Miraas - Red Jasper, Aventurine and Lapis Lazuli Brass Earrings

Rs.4,500

From the Gulzar collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, Miraas combines Red Jasper, Aventurine and Lapis Lazuli in a single brass earring. The name means "heritage" or "inheritance" in Urdu, and the stones make that word literal: three of Pakistan's most historically significant gemstones, placed together in one piece. At 2.2 inches, Miraas is a presence.

Red Jasper comes from Baluchistan, where its characteristic iron oxide coloration developed in silica-rich sedimentary deposits over millions of years. Jasper is an opaque variety of chalcedony with a microcrystalline quartz structure, and its red tone is produced entirely by hematite, iron oxide distributed through the stone's matrix. It was among the first stones used for ornament across the ancient Indus Valley and appears in burial sites and objects throughout Baluchistan's archaeological record. Aventurine is sourced from Swat Valley, KPK, where the green variety forms in quartzite host rock. The shimmering effect known as aventurescence is caused by platelets of fuchsite, a chrome bearing mica, that reflect light in alignment with the stone's structure. This shimmer is what separates aventurine from plain green quartz. Lapis Lazuli is sourced from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, the world's oldest known continuous source of this stone. Its color comes from lazurite, and the gold flecks are pyrite inclusions. The three stones in Miraas span the red, green and blue register: earthy, fresh and deep, drawn from Baluchistan, Swat and Badakhshan, and placed in one earring.

Miraas measures 2.2 inches and is the most multi-stone piece in the Gulzar collection. The brass frame organizes the three stones without crowding them, giving each element space to read. The earring length and the tri-stone composition make this more of an occasion piece than an everyday drop, though it wears without requiring a specific context. Standard hook fitting for stability across longer wear.

Made at the Orah Jewels and Crafts facility in Lahore, Miraas is assembled by hand. The three stones, from Baluchistan, Swat Valley and Badakhshan, represent three points in Orah's direct regional sourcing network built over more than twelve years in Pakistan's gemstone trade. One pair.
