Kubra - Natural Ruby and Rose Quartz Silver Bracelet

Rs.110,000

From the Rani collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, a bracelet assembled from two stones that define opposite ends of the colour register. Kubra holds raw Ruby and Rose Quartz from Afghanistan along a 7.4-inch silver structure, the stones linked by irregular silver elements that follow the natural outline of each piece of rough, so the bracelet has a rhythm across the wrist that is organic rather than mechanical.

Afghan Ruby from Badakhshan is corundum colored by chromium, the hardest colored gemstone after diamond. In its raw state the crystal retains the surface of formation: slightly translucent where thin, deeply red where the chromium concentration peaks, and with the angular outlines of hexagonal crystal growth still present rather than the smooth curves of a cut stone. Rose Quartz acquires its soft pink from microscopic inclusions of dumortierite within silicon dioxide, which produce a milky, scattered light rather than a clean color. The two stones share the red-pink chromatic range but through entirely different physical structures, one hard and directional, one soft and diffuse. On the wrist they create a composition that has movement and contrast without requiring any additional design element. The stones for Kubra were matched for scale and approximate shape at the Orah Jewels lapidary in Lahore so the bracelet reads consistent rather than random.

The silver frame is shaped to follow the wrist, the settings open to show the full sides of each stone where possible. At 7.4 inches, the bracelet fits with room to move, not pinned flat against the skin. The overall weight is significant but not uncomfortable for extended wear.
