Nazneen- Lapis Lazuli Ring

The Nazneen ring by Orah Jewels is handcrafted in brass and set with lapis lazuli from Badakhshan, Afghanistan, the geometric setting pattern drawn from the mirror mosaic work of the Sheesh Mahal in Lahore Fort. The word nazneen means delicate or graceful in Urdu - a name earned by the ring's fine geometric lines rather than its scale.

Lapis lazuli from Badakhshan is one of the world's oldest continuously traded gemstones - the blue produced by lazurite within the stone, with gold pyrite flecks visible across the surface. The brass setting gives the stone a warmer context than silver, the deep blue reading differently against the gold-toned metal than it does in a cooler setting.
