Koyal - Natural Peridot Silver Earrings
From the Rani collection by Orah Jewels and Crafts, earrings that carry the full length of the drop in stone rather than metal. Koyal holds natural uncut Peridot from Kohistan, KPK on silver wire drops, the stones hanging in their original rough form so the green is present at the full 3.2-inch drop length, moving as the earring moves.
Peridot from Kohistan, KPK comes from one of Pakistan's most distinctive mineral districts, where the geological classification as an island arc terrain produces olivine-rich rock at depths that generate peridot with high iron content. That iron produces the bright, warm green that defines Kohistan peridot, a color that sits between the yellow-green of lower-iron material and the forest green of chromium-bearing stones. It is peridot at its most characteristically itself, the color not pushed toward any other stone's register. Uncut stones in Koyal show the crystal formation directly: the slight angular outline of olivine crystal habit, the surface variation in tone across each stone's face, and the way light enters the stone at the natural planes rather than at the angles a cutter would impose. Because no two stones are identical in outline or exact surface character, the pair of earrings are matched for size and overall color rather than being exact duplicates. The stones were selected at the Orah Jewels facility in Lahore for visual consistency as a pair.
The wire setting is simple and allows the stone to move freely at the full drop length of 3.2 inches. The earrings are light despite their length, the silver minimal, and the stone doing all the visual work at distance. They read clearly from several feet away in both natural and artificial light.
