Earrings in Pakistan: Silver, Brass and Gold Plated from Orah Jewels
Earrings in Pakistan: Silver, Brass and Gold Plated from Orah Jewels
From Rs. 1,308 brass studs to Rs. 115,000 natural ruby drops in sterling silver. The complete guide to Orah Jewels earrings: every metal, every collection, every price point, with real gemstones handcrafted in Lahore.
Contents
The earring is called بالی (bali) in Urdu, and its history in South Asian jewelry goes back thousands of years. Orah Jewels makes earrings in three metals, each with a distinct character: brass for architectural designs inspired by Makli, Sheesh Mahal, and Sindhi craft traditions; gold-plated brass for the warm yellow tone of the Harf and Alif Laila collections; and 925 sterling silver for the Satrangi, Mehr, Sunheri Shaam, and Heirloom collections where natural gemstones from Swat, Hunza, and Gilgit-Baltistan are set for keeps.
All earrings at Orah Jewels are handcrafted at our Lahore facility. The gemstones are sourced directly from miners and suppliers across Pakistan and Afghanistan through our parent company, Stones and Beads Manufacturing Company, established 2012. This page covers the complete earrings range, organized by metal and by gemstone, so you can find the right piece at the right price without browsing through 80 individual product pages.
Three Metals, One Workshop: How to Choose
The single most important decision when buying earrings from Orah Jewels is which metal suits your use case. Each of the three metals at Orah serves a genuinely different function, and the price range associated with each reflects real differences in material, durability, and the class of gemstone used.
Brass (Rs. 1,308 to Rs. 10,500)
Brass is our entry metal for earrings: affordable, workable, and excellent for the architectural and geometric designs of the Whispers of Makli, Sheesh Mahal, Dastkari, Silsila, Hala (Sindhi Craft), Gulzar, and Rangreza collections. These earrings use natural gemstones including lapis lazuli, serpentine, aventurine, amazonite, idocrase, nephrite jade, fluorite, and rhodonite. Brass earrings are excellent for everyday wear and for anyone building a collection of natural gemstone earrings without a large budget. Note that some people with sensitive ears react to brass over extended wear; if you have a history of metal sensitivity, silver is the better choice.
Gold-Plated Brass (Rs. 1,308 to Rs. 4,500)
Several collections, including Alif Laila, Harf, and parts of the Himalayan Whisper collection, use brass with a layer of gold plating. This gives the warm yellow-gold tone that plain brass lacks, at the same accessible price range. Gold-plated earrings are particularly low-risk for plating wear since earrings have far less abrasive contact than rings and can last years with reasonable care. The Harf and Alif Laila earrings in this category are Orah's highest-volume designs and among the most popular gifts we produce.
Sterling Silver 925 (Rs. 6,400 to Rs. 115,000)
Our Satrangi, Mehr, Sunheri Shaam, Rani, and Heirloom collections are all made from 925 sterling silver. These are the pieces built for decades of wear, using faceted and hand-set natural gemstones from our direct sourcing network: Swat emeralds, Hunza ruby, Gilgit-Baltistan tourmaline, Skardu topaz, Afghan lapis lazuli, and peridot from Kohistan. The silver in these earrings is stamped 925. Many are finished with rhodium plating over the silver for a bright, tarnish-resistant white surface. If you are buying earrings as a meaningful gift or a long-term piece, this is the category.
We make earrings for women who know exactly what they want: a specific stone, a specific history, a specific level of craftsmanship. The Mehr collection, for example, is entirely lapis lazuli in silver. Not one design, twelve designs, each exploring a different way to use the same stone. Buyers choose based on how the lapis is cut and set, how much the silver is present versus the stone, what the proportions say about the wearer. That level of intention is what our earrings are built for.

Caring for Your Earrings by Metal
Brass Earrings
Wipe with a dry soft cloth after each wear to remove skin oils and moisture. For deeper cleaning, use a very lightly damp cloth with mild dish soap, then dry immediately and thoroughly. Store separately from silver jewelry. If you have sensitive ears, remove brass earrings before sleeping and limit extended wear until you know your skin's reaction to the alloy.
Gold-Plated Brass Earrings
Same basic care as brass, with the additional caution of never using abrasive cleaners or silver polishing cloths, which remove the gold layer. Avoid perfume and hairspray directly on gold-plated pieces. Store in the pouch or box provided. Because earrings have minimal abrasive contact compared to rings, gold-plated earrings typically maintain their finish for years with normal care.
Sterling Silver 925 Earrings
Store in an airtight bag or closed jewelry box when not wearing to slow tarnish formation. For light tarnish, polish with a soft silver polishing cloth. For heavier tarnish, mild soapy water and a soft brush, rinse thoroughly, dry completely. The gemstones in our silver earrings vary in cleaning sensitivity: lapis lazuli should not be soaked, soft stones like turquoise and pearl should only be wiped dry, while harder stones like tourmaline, topaz, and amethyst tolerate brief soapy water cleaning well.
Your Questions About Orah Jewels Earrings: Answered
Earring in Urdu is بالی (bali), also sometimes written as kaan ki bali (کان کی بالی), literally ear bali. The word bali refers specifically to the drop or stud earring that sits at or below the earlobe. Jhumka (جھومکا) is the Urdu word for the hanging bell-shaped or chandelier earring style, such as the Mystical Blossom jhumka in our range.
Yes. Every earring at Orah Jewels uses natural, genuine gemstones. The lapis lazuli in our brass earrings is Afghan lapis sourced through our direct supply network. The emeralds in our silver earrings are from Swat Valley, Pakistan. The tourmaline is from Gilgit-Baltistan. The peridot is from Kohistan. We do not use glass, synthetic stone, or resin imitation gemstones in any product. If you have a question about the origin or treatment status of a specific stone, contact us directly.
925 sterling silver earrings at Orah Jewels start from Rs. 6,400 for the Delara riverstone earrings and range up to Rs. 115,000 for the Gulbahar natural ruby earrings. The most popular silver earring purchase tier includes the Makli silver collection (Rs. 14,300 to Rs. 16,100), the Mehr lapis collection (Rs. 28,500 to Rs. 48,500), and the Sunheri Shaam tourmaline pieces (Rs. 28,500 to Rs. 40,000). All prices reflect genuine 925 sterling silver with genuine Pakistani gemstones handcrafted in Lahore.
Our 925 sterling silver earrings are suitable for most people with metal sensitivity, including nickel sensitivity, because sterling silver uses a copper alloy rather than nickel. Our brass earrings use a copper-zinc alloy and may cause reactions in people with copper or zinc sensitivity over extended wear. If you have known metal sensitivity, we recommend choosing from the sterling silver range.

The brass earrings use Pakistani serpentine (Skardu), Pakistani idocrase (Bajaur), Pakistani nephrite jade (KPK), Pakistani aventurine (Swat), and Afghan lapis lazuli. For the complete story of Pakistani gemstone origins, see our Gemstones of Pakistan guide.
A jhumka is the bell-shaped or chandelier-style hanging earring with a domed top and a hanging cluster or fringe below, a style deeply rooted in South Asian jewelry tradition. The Mystical Blossom at Rs. 3,400 is our primary jhumka-style earring, made in gold-plated brass with a pearl drop. Our broader earring range focuses more on stud and drop forms inspired by Pakistani architectural traditions.
